Christiana S. Cruz- Council
Not Another Christina
What makes my skillset so perfectly idiosyncratic are the various journeys that I have been fortunate enough to partake upon. I began in Philadelphia, where I was raised by a single, but nevertheless determined, mother. After graduating with honors from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, I continued my education at the University of Scranton. Having served with the Ronald McDonald House and other service-centered organizations for 4 years, I was awarded several scholarships and grants to continue this work throughout my undergraduate years. With a major in Communications, a concentration in the Law and a minor in History, I was able to secure three separate internships spanning the areas of human resources, finance and law, sustain a work-study within the University for four years and become president of a club on campus. While rising through my grade, I was recognized for my academic success through the Dean's List multiple times and was inducted into the National History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta, Mo-Rho chapter in 2017. The spring of 2018 saw new horizons, as I studied abroad at the University of Westminster in London for the semester. As a second-semester senior, I was awarded a grant by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, to venture to Panama in January of 2019 and participate in World Youth Day. In May of 2019, I reached the pinnacle of my academic achievements and proudly graduated cum laude from the University of Scranton. As a newly inducted member of the Communication Honor Society, I feel ready to embark on a new journey into the professional world, confident that my education and experiences will guide me steadily. These accomplishments may seem disconnected and perhaps even at odds but, just one made all the others possible and so, I am excited for the future, whatever it may hold.
